Kaung Myat Phyo is a 19-year-old Burmese national who was born and raised in Yangon, Burma. He is also known as Kelvin, although he prefers to be called by his real name when speaking in Burmese. He is currently a first-year liberal arts student at Parami University, with a planned specialisation in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). Prior to this, he had been a first-year student specialising in English literature at the University of Yangon, where he studied for only a semester. He withdrew from his studies to participate in the #CivilDisobedienceMovement by boycotting the education under the illegitimate military junta that took power in a coup d’etat in February 2021, as a form of protest against the regime.
